Tragic accident
Posted: 2003/02/09 By: Sandra (Views:1372)
The pictures are graphic and horifying (I have not seen them) as I can imagine. Those tragic
pictures of the dead girls truly do get the point accross of how horifying the accident was. We feel deep sympathy for the dead girls just by looking at those pictures. Generally in Asian culture, what is ironic in western culture (such as in an incident as this) it's the brutal truthful reality of every aspect of the tragic accident (in the pictures those human body parts were of the dead girls, at that particular accident scene) and the idea that one can see and feel the pain of the dead person or persons at the time of death. The student that you mentioned about probably has his own issues he's dealing with, in perhaps his own frustration, sadness or anger he wanted to know if you felt as he did towards the girls deaths. He wanted to see a sympathetic or rather sad reaction from you. He wanted to connect, with foriegners, in a positive way. Even though I am not Korean I understand his or their perspective in this regard to the tragic accident. Don't take the incident with that student personally. Best wishes. |
