One thing I have notices about the truth: There are 3 sides to every story, yours, mine, and the truth. Ever look at the color grey? Do you see black in it, or do you see white? Do you see a tinge of blue, or perhaps some yellow? When it is raining, do you complain that you forgot your umbrella, or do you realize that plants need to be watered, and our rivers need to be filled? Is your glass half empty, or half full?
People look at life in differnt ways. Life in a haguan is what you make of it at times. Are you a hard worker, or do you like to slide through life? Will you give 125 percent, or 80 percent? We get back what we give.
If you have a bad job, leave. Korea has more jobs then any other place I know.
If your boss is not treating you well, try and talk to him. Are YOU doing a "good" job?
I was teaching in NYC. My work h ours were 8:45 till 3.
I got to school every day at 7:30, never left before 4, took work home EVERY night, prepared most of the weekends, and what did I get in return?
A principal wh sided with the parents. (why make waves)
Children who were more rude then the Korean children. I never had a chair thrown at me here or got stabbed with a pencil.
I spent so much money on sppplies and books. Sure I had books. But teaching JHS in the year 2000 with books from 1989 was not very helpful.
Things are not perfect here, but they are OK.
I like this job, and I like Korea.
I like the people, I like the staff. Even the people who do not deserve to be treated well are. Of corse some things upset me, but after all, im only human. And no one can be pleased all of the time.
But I go to beed here with peace of mind.
To all the people who have complained about my school, English Friends, let me ask you something:
1) did you give your all?
2) did you come to work on time?
3) were you prepared?
And by the way, have YOU ever done any privates? They are not legal you know.
Embrase life. Embrase Korea. Good memories are made here.
